Skills you will Learn:
- Combine Wet and Needle Felting in creating a stunning landscape scene that peeks through the woods into a rambling creek
- How light and shadow play in every step of the process, expertly creating depth and drawing the eye deeper into the wool “painting”
- Thoughtfully plan out the final image at every stage
- Lay down background fibers strategically to blend colors and depth
- Needle felt in major landmarks that will go on to be wet felted into the wool “underpainting”
- Create detailed design elements in the creek water and trees while the piece is still wet
- Discover Helen’s methods, diagrams, and photos for referencing the landmark elements in this scene, and how to transfer them to your piece, while considering shrinkage.
- Step along each stone along the creek, paying attention to how light hits them on each side of the scene.
- Layer the scene by detailing the major foreground trees, adding hanging vines coming from above, and a twiggy bush planted in a bed of rocks.
- Fill the creekside with fallen autumn leaves nestled in the rocks, with Helen’s techniques to create a brilliant color variety with ease!
